Body Piercing Aftercare
You must think of your piercing not as a piercing but as a wound. Following proper piercing aftercare instructions will minimize factors that inhibit the healing process and reduce the risk of infections.
Before cleaning or tightening the balls on the piercing jewelry, always wash your hands first with Frangrance free antibacterial soap. Doing so will help eliminate any transfer of harmful bacteria to your piercing or the area. It is recommended not to use rubbing alcohol, peroxide, or any ointment such as Neosporin for your piercing, as these products may cause problems.
When changing your jewelry, you should wait the time suggested by your professional piercer or until healing time is complete. The only time that you should change your piercing before that is if extreme over swelling causes problems and complicates the healing process. In that case, it is best to go back to your piercer, where he/she will be able to change it out for a longer piece of jewelry.
You must be mindful of your piercings during any activities. When working out, you must be aware that the dirt and oils from your skin will get into your piercing when you sweat. Getting a piercing doesn’t mean you need to stop what you are doing; it just means that you should clean the area after you are done with your activity to ensure your piercing’s safety.
When it comes to sports, you must realize that you will cause trauma to your piercing. The more traumas you put on your piercing, the longer it will take to heal. If there are any problems or questions regarding your piercing, please call us or visit our shop.
